After a stop for refueling at the
airport of Maturín we are finally approaching the area of the Orinoco
Delta.
The turbid water of the river has a brown color due to the sediments
carried by the water. On the satellite picture on the previous
page you can see, that the Orinoco is also "coloring" the Ocean..

|
We see the first bayous of the Orinoco
Delta. |
|
Bayous of the Orinoco River
are dividing the area in uncountable islands. |
|
Other outlooks of the Orinoco
Delta. |
| You can observe the mangrove-trees
are standing in the water and so it is impossible to enter the
islands. |
|
Finally we arrived at the
small airfield of Pedernales. |
|
| The hungry mosquitoes already were
waiting for us, and for the next days to come, we were under continuous
attack by them :-( |
